Same ingredient, different word

The front of a Korean box uses the everyday word. The ingredient list (전성분) must use the standard ingredient name — so they often don’t match.

How we check

Official Korean names

Every Korean ingredient name, English (INCI) name and CAS number comes from the Korea Cosmetic Association’s ingredient dictionary, which publishes the standard names used on Korean labels.

Korean rules, quoted

Label rules, functional claims and tax refund rules are read from the laws on Korea’s official law site, with dates; ingredient limits come from the KCIA dictionary’s copy of the safety rules.

No product reviews

We explain what the label says. We don’t rate products, and no brand pays to be mentioned.
